This is a really well organised 4x4 winch event set in the jungle environment of Sri Lanka - sunshine, good food and fun awaits those competitors wanting the ultimate challenge.

The Taprobana Challenge has been running for some time and the last couple of years have seen international entries that have in turn lifted the level of the competition. Special Stages are technical and while not always mega long you are guaranteed to work hard and there will be plenty of winching on each.

This year the organisers have put forward a great offer for International competitors which covers all the importation costs, dock fees etc of vehicles into Sri Lanka. Two Australian teams have already registered for the event.

I’ve been to this event and from experience I can say the Taprobana is a well organised event by seasoned off-roaders, SS are interesting due to the jungle forest terrain, but nothing the guys from the UK can’t cope with!  Unlike stories you’ll have read of the Malaysia jungle you won’t have to contend with landslide, missing bridges and digging your way through.  You will have interesting driving, sunshine, clean rivers at the base camp from which you travel to the SS each day, and the odd mosquito, leech and bug to contend with.  Competitors are well looked after and during the event all meals for competitors are included as part of the entry fee.

Although the this event is advertised as a selector for the RFC in Malaysia, the Taprobana 4x4 Winch Challenge is a great competitive event in its own right and definitely worth considering if you want a challenge, good SS and some sunshine.

Local and International Champions will welcome you all to the competition, and they may be hard to beat, but I know we have some fabulous Winch Challenge competitors in the UK.
